Fishing Reports

Reports are suppplied by anglers and guides

Rogue River / Coquille River
Rogue Rivers king bite remains problematic, boaters remain frustrated by lock-jawed kings throughout the lower river and estuary. The dismal bite forces guides and anglers to fish up river by Agness and everywhere in-between with both plugs and eggs but are seeing minimal results. According to sources anglers fishing the Rogue several guides say it's just not happening; we should have made the move weeks ago to the Coquille when WONS Curtis Palmer reported his catches.
Anglers fishing the middle Rogue are doing fair to good with bait and plugs.
Upper Rogue from Foster Bar to Whiskey Creek. Chinook may no longer be taken or even targeted on this stretch.

Husband and wife team hook a few nice Kings while fishing with Guide Curtis Palmer

Irenen with her first king and she caught it on the Coquille river using a flasher while trolling a medium size Sardine her husband Pat caught his first king also on this trip weighing 24 pounds. They had doubles at one point of the trip, but Irene's salmon came unbuttoned

The Coquille River is producing both Coho and Kings WONS Curtis Palmer
is maintaining a very good catch rate for his clients.
Wild coho may be taken up to the Highway 42S Bridge near Sturtevant Park until November 30th, there is a quota, 1,200 fish. Anglers may keep one unclipped coho per day and up to five for the season.
One of the perks to this small river is you can dump crab pots off in the lower river head up river to salmon fish, after a few kings in the box head back down and pull a crab pot of very BIG Dungeness, what a dinner, a salmon steak and crab, hurt me.
Palmer of River Secrets fishes Plug Cut Sardines and Herring the key is his troll speed and the depth he fishes. Anglers wanting to fish this river should launch at the Bullards State Park and begin your troll starting just below the bridge and working your way up river some 3 miles, nice long mundane run.

Coos Bay / Coos River
Kings are right on track this year fishing the mouth of the Coos River. Boat traffic has been heavy at times with a derby coming this weekend expect boat some areas plugged with traffic. Anglers should target behind the Mill Casino, Marshfield Channel and directly in front of Sause Brothers. Cut Plug Herring and plain spinners work well on this system and don't forget about the crabbing, it has been improving every week in the bay.
Umpqua River/ Reedsport
Trollers are seeing some catches of mid range to BIG kings between 25 to 38 plus pounds, fishing over all is just at the fair mark. This time of year also marks the return of Coho which at this time are beginning to show in small numbers.
Anglers should also bring the crab pots as success on Dungies has been worthwhile in Winchester Bay.
Moving up the Umpqua River Smallmouth bass fishing is as always World Class moving into the South Umpqua there is an angler alert ! The Lawson Bar area contains toxic blue-green algae steer clear of this area.
